This is the MBQP page for Check out the Stars.

The first step is picking your fabrics.  Try to use your stash first. I don't recommend charm packs or layer cakes.  Yardage or fat quarters are much easier to work with.  Think about your colors this way - One star point will be dark against a light background and one star point will be light against a dark background.  Your star point colors need to contrast so that your checkerboard will be visible.    In my quilt, the A background fabrics were bright green.  The B star point fabrics were purple.  My C background fabric was dark blue.  My D star point fabrics were yellows, reds and pinks. 

Try to cut as much ahead of time as possible.  Follow the instructions per your pattern.

Bring to class:

Your best sewing machine and slide on table.

Mat, cutter, favorite rulers.

A pillow to sit on.
