Fabric
The sizes given include sahings and borders.

Throw     47” X 64”      6 Fat Quarters
Large Lap/Twin     72” X 79     14 Fat Quarters
Double/Queen     83” X 103”     24 Fat Quarters
King     117” X 116”     38 Fat Quarters

If you want to get a jump on the cutting, you can fold your Fat Quarter in half lengthwise with right sides together  and cut 2 strips 8 1/4” X 22”.  Leave the strips with the right sides together, carefully place them flat in a container to prevent wrinkling and they will be ready to finish cutting in class.

In the quilt shown, I used each fabric for both lanterns and backgrounds so there was no waste. OK.  Let’s face it---we all have a stash and this is your chance to use some of it.  Choose your fabrics making sure you have contrast.  That contrast can be light/dark, bright/dark, warn/cool, large print/small print, etc.  I have given the minimum amount of fabric for blocks so you can always bring more fabrics to add variety.  If you have 21 1/2” of usable width in your Fat Quarters, you will get 2 complete blocks per Fat Quarter.  If they are not that wide DO NOT DISPAIR, just add a few more Fat Quarters for backgrounds.

We will discuss sashing and borders in class so don’t worry about choosing those fabrics yet.  I like to see some of the blocks finished before I decide what color I want to use as the sashing and borders.

SECOND COLOR OPTION -
In this version, Patti used yellow backgrounds and Asian prints for the lanterns.
